South Downs Way 50
About this event
The South Downs Way 50 traces 81 kilometres of England's rolling chalk downland from Worthing to Eastbourne, following one of the country's most iconic national trails. After an opening climb to Chanctonbury Ring, the route unfolds eastward along grassy ridgelines with sweeping views of the Weald countryside to the north and glimpses of the English Channel to the south. With 1,750 metres of climbing and a 13-hour cutoff, this point-to-point ultra demands steady pacing and mental resilience. Seven well-stocked aid stations and full course marking support runners through the mix of chalk footpaths and occasional road sections. Part of Centurion Running's 50 Mile Grand Slam series, it's become a benchmark event for those ready to step up to ultra distance on terrain that rewards experience without overwhelming it.
