Runners follow the Nera River through the Valnerina Valley, passing the dramatic Marmore Falls and medieval villages like Ferentillo and Arrone before reaching the Basilica of San Valentino. The marathon and half marathon courses showcase central Italy's blend of natural beauty and historic architecture, with the route connecting ancient stone villages to rushing waterfalls. Each finisher crosses under a heart-shaped arch and receives a unique heart-shaped medal created by local art students, a fitting memento from a race that weaves together endurance, history, and romance in equal measure.
