Meråker Mountain Challenge

About this event

The Meråker Mountain Challenge honours those who perished in these Norwegian mountains, particularly Swedish soldiers lost during the Caroline army's tragic 1719 retreat from Trondheim. Set in the remote wilderness near the Swedish border, the race offers six distances from a welcoming 8-kilometre starter route with 500 metres of climbing to the formidable 161-kilometre Death March with 6,200 metres of elevation gain. Runners follow ancient mountain paths and DNT trails, visiting the major 1,000-metre peaks north of the E14 highway. The longer courses reach Blåhåmmårkleppen near the Tydal border, while shorter options provide genuine mountain experiences for those new to trail running.
