About this event
The Königsforst Marathon takes runners through the sprawling Königsforst forest just outside Cologne, offering a surprisingly wild escape near the city. With three distances ranging from half marathon to a 63km ultra, the event caters to experienced runners seeking a proper challenge on forest paths and trails. The route winds through one of the region's largest woodlands, where the mix of beech and oak trees creates a cathedral-like canopy overhead. Spring timing means fresh green leaves and muddy sections that keep things interesting underfoot. While the terrain demands respect and solid running fitness, the forest setting provides natural beauty and shade throughout. Based in Bergisch Gladbach, it's easily accessible for runners from across the Rhineland looking for a substantial forest run.
