Imittos Epic

Mount Hymettus rises just outside Athens, offering a surprisingly wild escape from the city below. The Imittos Epic takes runners through a mix of singletrack and dirt roads across this historic mountain, where ancient marble quarries once supplied stone for the Parthenon. The 24-kilometre route climbs 1,174 metres through pine forests and rocky ridges, with views stretching to the Aegean Sea. The course balances technical trail sections with runnable dirt roads, giving legs a chance to recover between the rockier passages. Starting and finishing just 4 kilometres from central Athens, this late October event lets runners explore one of the city's wildest corners without venturing far from the urban center.
