Il Giro del Monte Carpegna takes runners up the legendary Monte Carpegna, a climb beloved by cyclists and runners alike in the Marche region. The route follows winding roads through beech forests and alpine meadows, offering sweeping views of the Apennines. Two distances are available: an 8km option for those testing their climbing legs, and a challenging 15.5km route that fully embraces the mountain's steep gradients. Set in the quiet town of Carpegna near the border with Emilia-Romagna, this road race captures the spirit of Italian mountain running without the fanfare of larger events. The late July timing means warm sunshine and the chance to cool off with a post-race gelato in the village piazza.
