Harz-Gebirgslauf
About this event
The Harz-Gebirgslauf takes runners through the mystical Harz Mountains to the legendary Brocken summit, Germany's highest peak in northern regions. The flagship Brocken-Marathon tackles over 1000 meters of elevation gain through forest trails and rocky paths, where alpine conditions and sudden weather shifts demand respect and preparation. The half-marathon offers a gentler introduction to the terrain, while shorter distances (11km, 5km, and an 11km Nordic walking option) let runners experience these atmospheric mountains at a more relaxed pace. Starting in the timber-framed town of Wernigerode, the courses wind through dense spruce forests and across moorland plateaus. The Brocken's summit, steeped in folklore and often shrouded in mist, rewards those who reach it with views stretching across central Germany. Best suited to runners comfortable with sustained climbing and changeable mountain weather.
