The Coastal Trail Series visits Northumberland's dramatic coastline, where runners trace a route past sweeping beaches, windswept dunes, and the striking silhouette of Bamburgh Castle. The terrain shifts constantly underfoot—sand giving way to grass, then coastal trails—making even the shorter distances feel like proper adventures. Four distances cater to different ambitions, from a 10K taster to a 57.8km ultra that truly tests endurance against the elements. The North Sea wind and changing tides add character to every step. While the half marathon and longer options suit experienced trail runners comfortable with varied terrain, the 10K offers a manageable introduction to coastal running.
