Besseggløpet
About this event
Besseggløpet follows one of Norway's most iconic mountain ridges, connecting two historic lodges along a spectacular 14-kilometre traverse. Runners tackle the famous Besseggen ridge trail, climbing from Memurubu to a high point of 1,743 metres before descending to Gjendesheim. The terrain is characteristically Norwegian — rugged, rocky, and unforgiving, with patches of snow often lingering on the route even in mid-June. This is serious mountain running through dramatic landscapes, where technical footwork matters as much as fitness. The 1,050-metre elevation gain and exposed alpine conditions make this one for experienced trail runners comfortable with challenging, uneven ground and mountain weather.
