5VH Fimmvorduhals Trail run

The Fimmvörðuháls trail is legendary among Icelandic runners, and this 28km race shows why. Starting at the thundering Skógarfoss waterfall, the route climbs steadily alongside a river dotted with cascades, reaching the Baldvinsskáli hut at 1000 metres before continuing across the edge of Eyjafjallajökull glacier. Runners traverse lava fields, catch glacier views, and experience Iceland's volcanic landscapes in their rawest form. The 1230 metres of climbing demands mountain running experience, but the wild, remote surroundings make every metre worthwhile. An authentic Icelandic trail running experience in the shadow of a glacier.
