The Sibilla Trail takes runners through the wild heart of the Sibillini Mountains in central Italy, where legend says the mythical Sibyl once dwelled in hidden caves. Based in the medieval village of Montemonaco, the event offers two routes: a 25km course for intermediate runners ready to tackle the region's rugged terrain, and a 10km option that provides a gentler introduction to these mystical peaks. The trails wind through beech forests and alpine meadows, with views stretching across the Apennines. July brings wildflowers to the high pastures and perfect temperatures for mountain running. It's a chance to explore one of Italy's lesser-known mountain ranges, where ancient folklore meets authentic trail running.
