The Lea Valley 50km traces a remarkable journey from Welwyn Garden City to Hackney Wick, following the Cole Green Way and Lea Valley Path through Hertfordshire's countryside before arriving in East London. This point-to-point ultra runs mostly flat along former railway lines and canal towpaths, making it accessible for first-time ultra runners while still offering a solid challenge. The route's real charm lies in its gradual transformation from rural trails to urban waterways, showcasing a different side of the capital. Three aid stations keep runners supported throughout, and Camino Ultra's thoughtful touches—like locally curated finisher's packs and the option to plant a tree instead of taking a t-shirt—add a welcome sense of purpose to the miles.
