The Kima Trophy stands as one of the Alps' most demanding mountain races, challenging runners with seven high-altitude passes above 2,500 meters. Starting from Cataeggio at 870 meters, the course climbs 4,200 meters to reach its highest point at Cameraccio pass (2,950m). The terrain varies dramatically — moraines, snowfields, and exposed ridges that require steady nerves and mountain experience. Fixed ropes secure the most technical sections. Held every two years in late August, this isn't a race for newcomers to high mountain running, but for those seeking a true alpine challenge in the heart of the Valtellina mountains.
