The Giants Head Marathon Weekend transforms the Dorset village of Sydling St Nicholas into a weekend celebration of running. Set in the rolling Sydling and Cerne valleys, the event offers three distances — a full marathon, half marathon, and 10K — all sharing the same challenging character: steep climbs rewarded by sweeping valley views. Saturday's races are followed by a barn dance in the village hall, while Sunday brings the quirky LittleFeet Bell Race, where runners (including kids) dash downhill ringing cowbells in a nod to Alpine tradition. The local community fully embraces the weekend, serving hearty meals on Friday and Saturday evenings. It's a proper village event that happens to include some seriously hilly running.
