The world's northernmost AIMS-certified marathon takes place under the midnight sun in Tromsø, Norway's Arctic capital. Over 6,000 runners gather each June to experience the surreal beauty of running while the sun never sets. The courses wind through the city center, crossing the iconic Tromsø Bridge twice, with coastal roads flanked by fjords and snow-dusted peaks glowing in the endless twilight. The event offers four distances from 5km to the full marathon, with the gentle terrain (barely 40 meters of elevation) making the longer distances surprisingly manageable. Beyond the running, there's a festive Nordic atmosphere throughout the city, with Sami tents and a celebratory vibe that feels uniquely Arctic. It's a bucket-list event that combines accessible racing with genuinely unforgettable scenery.
