Nattvasan takes cross-country skiing into the realm of adventure. This nighttime race follows the legendary Vasaloppet trail from Sälen to Mora, but transforms it into something altogether different under the cover of darkness. Starting at 8pm, skiers navigate by headlamp and starlight through 90km of winter wilderness, with only three checkpoints offering basic support along the way. The experience combines serious endurance (participants ski solo or in pairs using classic or skate technique) with an almost meditative quality—there's something uniquely powerful about moving through silent, snow-covered forests at night. A 45km option starting at Oxberg makes the event more approachable while keeping that distinctive atmosphere. Limited to 3,000 participants since its 2017 debut, Nattvasan has built a reputation as one of Scandinavia's most compelling winter challenges.
