Enschede Marathon

The Enschede Marathon holds a special place in running history as the oldest marathon in the Netherlands and Western Europe, dating back to 1947. The flat, fast course has earned a reputation for producing exceptional times, having hosted world-class performances from elite athletes including Eliud Kipchoge. The route winds through the University of Twente campus, follows the scenic F35 cycle highway, circles the green expanse of H.J. van Heekpark, and finishes in Enschede's lively city center before crowds that regularly exceed 80,000 spectators. While the full marathon attracts serious competitors chasing personal bests, the event also offers half marathon, 10km, and 5km distances, welcoming runners across all experience levels to be part of this historic Dutch racing tradition.
