Engadin Skimarathon
About this event
The Engadin Skimarathon brings the alpine world to life each March, when thousands of skiers glide across the frozen lakes and snow-covered meadows of Switzerland's Upper Engadine. The classic 42km route from Maloja to S-chanf has been drawing skiers since 1969, winding past St. Moritz and through the atmospheric Stazerwald forest. What started as a single race has grown into a week-long celebration of Nordic skiing, offering distances for different ambitions: the full marathon for seasoned racers, a 21km half for those building up, and 17km options including a women's race and atmospheric night event. At nearly 1,800 meters altitude, the scenery alone is worth the trip — think sparkling frozen lakes framed by snow-dusted peaks. With up to 14,000 participants, the atmosphere buzzes with energy while still maintaining that special camaraderie that comes from shared effort in stunning surroundings.
