Ultra races in France

France's ultra races span the volcanic plateaus of the Auvergne, the limestone Causses around Millau, the rolling Jura ridgelines, and the tropical calderas of Réunion Island. Runners encounter challenging terrain across the Pyrenees GR10, the forests of Beaujolais wine country, the garrigue scrubland near Uzès, and Alpine passes like the Petit Saint Bernard. Events range from the demanding 180km Diagonale des Fous with nearly 10,000 metres of climbing to accessible introductions in the Chevreuse Valley west of Paris.
