The Marathon Deutsche Weinstraße winds through Germany's oldest wine route, taking runners past sun-drenched vineyards and historic wine villages in the Palatinate region. Starting from Bockenheim an der Weinstraße, the course follows gently rolling roads through one of the country's most scenic wine-growing areas. Spring timing means the vines are just waking up, with almond blossoms often dotting the landscape. Both marathon and half marathon distances are available, though the terrain and distance make this better suited for those with solid road running experience. The post-race atmosphere embraces the region's wine culture, making it a proper celebration of the Deutsche Weinstraße.
